On Track

Part of our mission at Participate World is to advocate for the massive impact that community sport has in the UK and around the world, celebrating the amazing people behind organisations that are increasingly a vital part of our social infrastructure.

Tom Williams was on the brilliant and newly-launched Track Radio with Vassos Alexander and Charlotte Daly this morning to talk about just that. www.trackradio.com

We hope that th
is could become a regular series with community sport leaders to help platform the personal stories behind community sport’s collective impact, celebrate their journeys and we hope inspire future leaders in community sport.

Another part of our mission is to explore the potential for community sport to be a bridge between communities around the world, as well as for social good in those communities. Community sport for diplomacy, in a word.

A great example of that this week is Charlton Athletic Community Trust visit to South Africa where they signed a partnership agreement with former Charlton player and South Africa international Mark Fish. Their collective goal, through a partnership with Mark’s new foundation, is to empower young people and support communities across South Africa.

Great to see British Consulate General Cape Town recognising the potential of this partnership on their social media accounts, as I see real potential for the FCDO and football foundations to support social and diplomatic outcomes around the world.
