Nearly 100 days

It’s Friday of Week 14 in the Participate World world, and that means day 96, and that means day 100 will be this coming Tuesday. And whilst I know that’s just an arbitrary number, I do also think it provides an opportunity to reflect on progress so far and to consider how much we’ve achieved over the first few months of our journey.

There were many reasons behind mine and Chris Lomax MBE's decision to set up our own mission-driven business. A particularly strong motivation being to spend as much time as possible with people who, like us, dream of making the world a better place through community-focussed sport and physical activity.

I'm not sure what the business KPI would be for ‘time spent with cool people’ but reflecting on our first almost-100-days we seem to be doing a pretty good job. This being the first week of our kids’ Easter holidays we’ve had some leave and some family commitments, but still managed to squeeze time in with Mark Burns from The Man Walk Australia Incorporated, Mel Bound and the team from This Woman Runs, the cool folks at MOVE Against Cancer Charity, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office India team, colleagues from the Commonwealth Secretariat along with Simon Lansley at ConnectSport CIC, football specialist extraordinaire Darren Robinson, Christopher Corander from Interact, and Ross Baxter from the Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development.

One of my many life-affirming learnings from my time at parkrun was that the world really is packed full of people looking to do good things for others and to contribute to society as best they can. And as we look forward to the next 100 days and beyond, we’re excited about the future and the many other great people we will encounter on the way.
