Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.
Earlier this week I had the good fortune to meet and spend the day with the brilliant folks from Kelham Island Table Tennis Club, created several years ago by Simon Athey and Liam Bardell.
Having been inspired by Tim Holtam and the Brighton Table Tennis Club, they offer free sessions six days per week and welcome people of all abilities and backgrounds.
One of the brilliant things about mine and Chris Lomax MBE's, is that we get to spend time with incredible people who are on a mission to make a positive contribution to the world. In this case, Liam is a local business leader, with a number of bars, cafes, and music venues across Sheffield, and created a fantastic space for table tennis in a building attached to one of those cafes.
His entire motivation for the project is simply to give something to his community and provide an opportunity for people to come together to be active and social. It really is the most incredible space, and I’d thoroughly recommend popping down there if you happen to be in Sheffield and fancy experiencing it for yourself.

Aside from that trip to Sheffield, it was great to enjoy time this week with my friends and colleagues at the Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development, Hintsa Performance, Richard Nerurkar from the Great Ethiopian Run, Mark Burns from The Man Walk Australia Incorporated, Mel Bound from This Woman Runs, Alexander Betts at the University of Oxford, Louise James (Mackeson-Sandbach) and the innovation team at Accenture, Tristan Batley-Kyle from Jane Tomlinson's Run For All, and earlier today Damian Smith and the team from Podium Analytics, plus my long term collaborator in the global community sport, Ian Slonim CA (SA), FCMA.
What an incredible group of people, who I feel ridiculously humbled to share this journey with.
As a quote on the Kelham TTC says: Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.
Have a fantastic weekend, T
